Spring Showers for the Mind

Written By: Kaitlyn Lewis, LPC

April showers are not just for flowers. Sometimes our minds get their own showers in the form of stress, worries, or feelings that show up out of nowhere. It can feel heavy or frustrating, but just like rain nourishes a garden, these little emotional showers can help us grow in ways we might not notice right away.

Take a moment to notice what has been weighing on you. Is there a worry you keep thinking about or an old feeling that pops up when you least expect it? You do not need to fix it. Simply noticing it can be the first step toward understanding what your mind is trying to tell you.

One simple practice is to set aside five minutes each day to check in with yourself. You can write down your thoughts, talk to a friend, or even say them aloud to yourself. Reflection can be like catching raindrops in your hand. You do not have to stop the rain, but you can see it clearly and choose how to let it feed you.

Virtual therapy is a way to explore these feelings safely. You can meet a therapist from home or wherever you feel comfortable. You can talk about what is coming up, process it without judgment, and leave feeling a little lighter. Sometimes the tiniest drops of attention and care can make the biggest difference in how we grow.
