It means the world that you’re here.
Sometimes, it’s just about finding the right space and the right support to guide you forward. We’re here to walk with you every step of the way.
Maybe you lost someone who was your whole world.
Maybe a relationship ended, a job disappeared, or you found yourself in a chapter of life that looks nothing like you planned.
Maybe something happened a long time ago that you thought you'd put behind you, but it keeps quietly showing up.
You've probably tried to explain it to people who love you, and felt like they almost got it, but not quite.
You need someone who truly gets it. That's exactly who we are.
Life threw something at you. And you're still standing (even if it doesn't always feel that way.)

You Don't Have to Know Exactly What's Wrong to Reach Out
A lot of people put off therapy because they're waiting to feel "bad enough" to deserve it, or because they can't quite articulate what's wrong, just that something feels off. You don't need a clean explanation. You don't need to have it all figured out before you call. You just need a sense that things could feel different, and a willingness to find out.
Some of the people we work with come in after something clearly difficult: a loss, a diagnosis, a relationship ending, a trauma that finally has room to be addressed. Others come in feeling vaguely unsettled, going through the motions of a life that looks fine on paper but doesn't feel like theirs anymore. Both are valid reasons to start. Neither requires a crisis as a prerequisite.

Therapy that fits your life, not the other way around.
Every session is fully virtual because healing shouldn't require a commute. No waiting rooms, no rearranging your whole day. Grab your coffee, find a quiet spot, and show up exactly as you are.
Research backs it: online therapy is just as effective as in-person, and we'd argue it's a lot more comfortable.
People sometimes worry that virtual therapy will feel less real, less effective, or somehow lesser than sitting across from someone in an office. In practice, the opposite is often true. Being in your own space, on your own terms, tends to lower the barrier to honesty. You're not managing a commute, a waiting room, or the small performance of walking into a building labeled "therapy." You're just showing up as you are, from wherever feels safest.
The research on this is consistent: outcomes for virtual therapy are comparable to in-person care across a wide range of concerns. For many people, especially those juggling work, parenting, or limited access to specialized care in their area, virtual sessions are not a compromise. They're the thing that makes consistent care possible at all.
We serve clients across Texas, from major cities to smaller communities where specialized mental health care can be harder to find. Wherever you're logging in from, the quality of care doesn't change.
What makes Heard Counseling Different?
There's a particular kind of relief that comes from talking to someone who isn't trying to fix you quickly, rush you toward a tidy resolution, or treat your pain as a problem to be managed efficiently. That's the kind of space we try to create for every person who walks through our virtual doors.
At Heard, every clinician on our team has been carefully selected not just for their credentials, but for their warmth, their integrity, and their commitment to doing the kind of work that actually changes lives. We don't match you with whoever has an opening. We match you with someone who genuinely fits.
We are a trauma-informed, relationally grounded practice. That means we understand that what brings you to therapy today often has roots that go much deeper than the presenting problem.
Who we’re here for
We work with individuals, couples, and teens navigating some of the most meaningful and difficult seasons of life. Whether you're in the thick of a transition, trying to make sense of a relationship, managing anxiety that won't quiet down, or finally ready to address something you've been carrying for years, you belong here.
We also believe in matching carefully. When you reach out, we're not trying to fill an open slot on a calendar. We're trying to understand what you need and who on our team is genuinely positioned to help with that. Sometimes that means a clinician with specific trauma training. Sometimes it means someone who has deep experience with a particular life transition. We take that matching seriously because we know it matters.
Getting started is way easier than you think. (We promise.)
1. Reach out. Call or submit an inquiry and we'll help you find the right fit on our team.
2. Book your first session. All sessions are virtual, so you can connect from anywhere in Texas.
3. Do the work and feel it. Real therapy that moves at your pace and actually goes somewhere.
